What's the name of the cipher or code?

I remember, when i ws playing amnesya lvl 41, there was a code with 2 bunch of letter, the code was made of 2 sentences of words, the sentences where strictly under each other,such that each letter was under another, and the code was a table where you have to match the 2 letters to give you another letter, this technique was used long ago, whats the name of this type of code or cipher ???
